- The Winston-Salem Police Department has reported that a juvenile victim was shot three times on Wednesday, Aug. 9. The incident occurred on Bridgton Place Drive. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the victim with three gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Investigators say the suspect may have been driving a small red passenger vehicle with damage around the trunk. Police are continuing to investigate, and anyone with information is asked to call the Winston-Salem Police Department at (336) 773-7700. (Fox 8)
- A new initiative from the Forsyth County Department of Public Health is seeking to educate boys about their health and how to make a positive impact in their communities. Motivating Males on the Move, or M3, is a program for boys aged 9-13 and provides resources and support on topics such as puberty, decision-making skills, and building healthy relationships. Program organizer and Men's Health Coordinator Stanley Howard explained that one of the program's goals is to connect young men with positive role models. - The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public Art Commission is seeking project proposals from artists for public art installations in the city. Proposals may include 2D or 3D art, performance art, and more. There will be an in-person workshop for artists on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Delta Arts Center, and another in-person workshop on Thursday, Sep. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at INBTWN-Dose Artist Collective.
