  1. Four minors are accused of committing multiple burglaries at tobacco stores in Winston-Salem. The incidents occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, with the first attempted break-in at Nasty Clouds Tobacco & Vape and a successful entry at Stratus Smoke & Vape shop. The police apprehended the suspects, who matched the description, at an apartment complex on Eltha Drive, recovering the stolen merchandise from inside the apartment and a vehicle. Juvenile petitions for felony breaking and entering are pending, and although secure custody orders were denied, the parents of the juveniles were contacted. (WXII12 Winston-Salem)
  2. The tree that fell down near the William G. White Junior YMCA earlier this week has been removed and the road was reopened early Thursday morning. A large tree fell Wednesday night in the West End neighborhood bringing down a few power lines along north Hawthorne Road. No one was injured in the incident, but due to power lines being brought down, some areas experienced power outages and needed time for repair. Crews were able to work overnight to restore power to these areas and reopen the road around 5:00 a.m. (WXII12 Winston-Salem)
  3. This summer, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools will be hosting different hiring events where participants can speak directly to principals and hiring managers in the district. The first hiring event will be on Jun. 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will be completely virtual; if you are interested you can upload your resume to the website. Two more events will also be held in July, including a webinar showing how to become a teacher on Jul. 11 and another career fair on Jul. 18 at the Reynolds High School gymnasium. (WFMYNews2.com)
