The future of Winston-Salem is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Elizabeth Sechrest, who are making a positive impact in and around Winston-Salem.

Elizabeth is an inspiring young leader in Winston-Salem who exemplifies dedication, hard work and community spirit. As the first self-advocate to join the staff of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem (DSAGWS), Elizabeth has taken on numerous responsibilities, from preparing materials for the Buddy Walk to engaging with financial donors and planning events. Her role as a part-time administrative assistant highlights her trailblazing efforts to create space for individuals with Down syndrome in professional settings, and she continues to shine as a model of capability and leadership.

In addition to her work with DSAGWS, Elizabeth balances multiple commitments that reflect her passion for community service and advocacy. She volunteers at the Greensboro Children's Museum, the Early Childhood Educational Center and Senior Services in Winston-Salem, where she serves as a greeter at the Intergenerational Center. She is also a valued team member at A Special Blend Coffee Shop in Greensboro.
