Here are the top three stories in Winston-Salem today:
- A police chase turned deadly on Monday after a suspect fleeing in what deputies believed to be a stolen vehicle crashed head-on into another vehicle. In an effort to evade the police, the driver of a Mercury Grand Marquis that matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen made a U-turn on the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway. The driver of the Grand Marquis hit another vehicle with a teenage driver and passenger; all three were pronounced dead at the scene. (Subscription: Winston-Salem Journal)
- A juvenile and two adults are facing charges after a juvenile pointed a rifle at a man at Bowman Grey Stadium on Saturday night. When police searched the car the juvenile was in, they discovered marijuana, a rifle, and a handgun. The juvenile was charged with assault by pointing a gun and was released to a guardian. - Local students are finding success through a program called "School on Sundays." Hosted by Union Baptist Church, the program aims to bridge the learning gap and provide students with specific attention and support. Currently, 89 students are enrolled in the program, with almost a third of their parents participating in a companion program to learn strategies to better support their children's learning. (FOX 8)
