- The Winston-Salem Police Department is investigating a non-life-threatening shooting incident after responding to gunshots in the Timlic Avenue area on Sunday. The victim, who had already been transported to a local hospital, sustained a gunshot wound to the ankle during an exchange of gunfire between unidentified individuals. The WSPD Field Services Bureau/Patrol Division is handling the ongoing investigation. (WGHP FOX8 Greensboro)
- A nurse in Winston-Salem is being investigated for allegedly killing two patients and attempting to kill another by administering fatal doses of insulin. The nurse, Johnathan Hayes, is charged with murder and attempted murder. The investigation also revealed privacy violations and sharing of patient photos. (Greensboro News & Record)
- A fatal car accident is under investigation by the Winston-Salem Police Department after officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Glenn Hi Road on Sunday. Despite immediate medical attention, the driver, identified as 37-year-old Derita Simmons, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Winston-Salem Police Department will be leading the ongoing investigation. (WXLV)
