  1. House Bill 295, which is part of the proposed N.C. House 2023-2024 budget bill, would change the name of the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) to N.C. Museum of Art-Winston-Salem. The details of the bill were revealed publicly on Thursday and include $15 million that would go towards renaming SECCA. Rep. Donny Lambeth, R-Forsyth, said of the proposed change, "The purpose was to link it to the N.C. Museum of Art in order to support their request for significant funding." 2. Dewberry Farm down the road in Kernersville is once again hosting its sixth annual "U-pick" tulip festival. Tickets are on sale until Apr. 4 to book a two-hour slot during the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to come and pick flowers, which are being sold for $1.25 per tulip, $1.75 for a tulip and a bulb, or $9 for a dozen. The $8 admission for adults and $5 admission for children over the age of 2 also includes access to the farm to visit the animals, walking trails, hedge maze, and more. (WFMYNews2.com)
  3. The City of Winston-Salem has officially taken over recycling collecting services starting today, Apr. 3. The takeover is being done to save funds for the city and will preserve current recycling collecting schedules; the city has been contracting with Waste Management of Carolinas Inc. since 1991. Officials issued a reminder to residents on what can be recycled and what should be kept out of recyclables. (WXII12 Winston-Salem)
