2. New statewide radio system aims to improve emergency response (kfyrtv.com) — Based out of Bismarck’s massive new Interoperable Radio Network is rolling out to give first responders a single, clearer radio system statewide by 2027. Backed by $120 million and 140 new towers, it’s already improving communication in areas where it’s live, promising faster, more reliable coordination for police, fire, and EMS, including around Bismarck.

3. Respect states' rights, new bipartisan group of legislative leaders tells feds (inforum.com) — State legislative leaders from across the country, in a meeting highlighted from Bismarck, are uniting behind a new declaration demanding stronger respect for states’ rights and less federal intrusion into state laws. The bipartisan group, including North Dakota’s Senate majority leader, is pushing back on recent federal actions, including a Trump executive order on artificial intelligence, and plans more joint statements on issues like Medicaid and education.

4. Property taxes eliminated for 50,000 North Dakota households under new legislation (kfgo.com) — Bismarck residents and other North Dakotans could see their 2025 property tax bills wiped out or sharply reduced under an expanded Primary Residence Credit, worth up to $1,600 per household. While Gov. Kelly Armstrong and Bismarck Rep. Mike Nathe tout the relief, county officials warn new limits on annual tax increases may strain budgets, staffing, and local services over the next several years.
