Council members also approved key funding for the Grand Forks Police Department, arts and community grants for 2026, infrastructure bonds, and several zoning and development changes that will shape growth across the city.

The Grand Forks facility earned a High Performance rating for both short-term rehab and long-term care, placing it among just five North Dakota nursing homes to receive this honor.
   

3. UND's honors program will become an honors college, but 'when' is yet to be determined (grandforksherald.com) — UND’s long-running honors program in Grand Forks is on track to become an honors college, though campus leaders haven’t set a launch date yet. Director Merie Kirby says the change could bring more resources, a stronger identity, and innovative, interdisciplinary classes that help students stand out in internships and future careers.

East Grand Forks man's attorney asks judge to dismiss case over missing security video (inforum.com) — A January court hearing in Grand Forks will determine whether prosecutors can move forward in a homicide case after a key hotel security video is reportedly missing. The defense for an East Grand Forks man wants the case dismissed or sanctions imposed, arguing only partial clips of the 2020 incident at a Grand Forks hotel remain while prosecutors dispute ever having a full recording.
   

5. Three UND football players see honors as the first of various All-America lists begin release (grandforksherald.com) — Grand Forks football fans have reason to celebrate as three UND standouts—Seth Anderson, Malachi McNeal, and Lance Rucker—earned spots on an early All-America list. The story highlights their standout seasons, Rucker’s new single-season sack record, and his still-undecided future with UND.
