APS, Browns Kids And Animals

There are free haircuts from a local barber college, and Children's Hospital provided vaccinations and immunizations.

Akron Public Schools annual Backpack Adventure at the Akron Zoo drew thousands of students, by the busload, to this jewel on Akron's near west side. Held every August, the event brings students and families together with many of the organizations that support them throughout the year.

There are free haircuts from a local barber college, and Children's Hospital provided vaccinations and immunizations. The Cleveland Browns and the Browns Foundation and some team alums joined Chomps the mascot ... to the delight of our students. The team brought its Stay in the Game message with it to encourage kids to maintain good attendance this year. Also at the Akron Zoo for Backpack Adventure were many other partners and members of Akron's safety forces joining many more folks working together for our families to provide school supplies ... especially important this year when supplies are tougher to find in our stores due to a national shortage.
