Austintown Trustees vote unanimously to rezone former bar in township (wfmj.com) — Austintown Township trustees have unanimously rezoned the former Zodiac Lounge & Grill site on South Four Mile Run Road from commercial B2 to business B1, effectively blocking future bar use there. After years of police calls for assaults, gunfire and even a bomb threat, the property is now limited to professional, non-retail services, changing how that corner of the township can be used.

Owners working to bring residents back to Phoenix House while building is repaired (wfmj.com) — After the Phoenix House explosion in Austintown, owners are working to repair the building so some of the 65 undamaged units can safely reopen to displaced seniors. More than 130 residents remain in hotels, nursing homes or with family while United Way and local agencies scramble to find affordable, assisted housing and secure up to 12 months of rent support.

3. Damaged equipment believed to have caused power outage in Austintown, Youngstown (wfmj.com) — Thousands of Austintown and Youngstown residents briefly lost power, but FirstEnergy says electricity has now been fully restored, with most customers back online within an hour. The outage, which affected nearly 2,500 Austintown customers, is blamed on damaged equipment, and the company is still investigating what caused that damage.
