2nd Bald Eagle Egg Discovered In Nest In Avon Lake

AVON LAKE, OH — The bald eagles outside Redwood Elementary laid a second egg on Thursday evening.

The first egg of 2022 arrived Monday morning. The second egg was discovered a little before 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Two bald eagles, which students at Redwood named Stars & Stripes, nest outside the Avon Lake school. The Avon Lake Schools built out a camera system that allows watchers to monitor the bald eagles and their eggs. The district also created a Facebook page, called Avon Lake Bald Eagles Nest, where followers can get the latest updates on the birds.

Birdwatchers and supporters of all things cute can drop in and watch Stars and Stripes and their budding eagle family via a YouTube livestream that runs all day, every day.

Last year, three baby bald eagles hatched around Easter in the nest.
