• Latta announces academy nominations « The VW independent (thevwindependent.com) — Several Avon High School students have earned nominations from Congressman Bob Latta to attend U.S. military service academies, spotlighting local academic and leadership talent. Avon nominees appear on the lists for the U.S. Military and Air Force academies, alongside other standout students from across Ohio’s Fifth District.
   

• Olmsted Falls vs. Avon boys basketball: Bulldogs grind out 55-41 win (morningjournal.com) — Avon High’s boys basketball team dropped a physical home game to Olmsted Falls, 55-41, in Southwestern Conference play on Dec. 16. Despite a strong 18-point effort from Joey Ziegler and a key run that briefly cut the deficit to three, turnovers and defensive lapses let the Bulldogs pull away. Avon next visits Berea-Midpark on Dec. 19.
