Here are the top three stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:

  1. It's that time of year again. Time for the Avon Lake Saddle Club's first show of the season on Saturday, June 11 starting at 10 a.m. at Weiss Field. The patterns for the show are listed online on the Facebook page. The Avon Lake Saddle Club was founded in 1965. It is a non-profit organization that puts on five shows every year. It also organizes several fundraisers and events to help and benefit the community and works closely with Angel Haven Horse Rescue, donating a portion of monies raised to the rescue. (Avon Lake Saddle Club (ALSC) via Facebook)
  2. In the market for a new home? While you may have learned roughly what these houses are like from the photos, you just can't beat an in-person encounter with the real thing. To help you out, we've put together a list of the three most recent homes on the open-house circuit in the Avon-Avon Lake area. Happy house hunting! (Avon-Avon Lake Patch)
  3. If you're hoping to add a fuzzy ball of love and affection to your household, you should check out these Avon-Avon Lake area shelters for a pet who needs a home. Millions of pets are given to adoption facilities each year nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. However, only around half of all shelter pets are adopted according to ASPCA data. This means millions of animals — some right here in the Avon-Avon Lake area — are still waiting for their forever homes. Why not make that your home?(Patch)

Are you an Avon-Avon Lake resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you can’t afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here’s why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)

To learn more, visit Masterworks.io, where Avon-Avon Lake Daily readers can skip the waitlist.
