Avon police officer nearly hit by suspected Target shoplifters; search for 2 women continues (news5cleveland.com) — Avon police are asking for the public’s help after two suspected shoplifters in a white Chevy Suburban sped out of a local shopping center, leading to a high-speed chase and nearly striking an officer near Detroit Road. One woman has been identified and linked to multiple warrants across Ohio, while the other remains unknown. Anyone with information is urged to contact Avon Police.
   

3. 6 Northeast Ohio health systems construction projects to watch in 2026 (crainscleveland.com) — Cleveland Clinic is planning a major expansion of Avon Hospital and the Richard E. Jacobs Family Health Center, set to begin in 2026 and double the Avon campus by 2028. The project will grow emergency and cancer services, add about 90 exam rooms, and include a new parking garage. Several other large health-system construction projects across Northeast Ohio are also highlighted.
   

4. Emeka, Webber sworn in as newest Lorain County judges (morningjournal.com) — Two history-making women, Farah Emeka in Oberlin and Linda Webber in Lorain, have been sworn in as new municipal court judges and will begin serving early next year. For Avon residents, Avon Lake Municipal Court Judge Allison Manning continues to oversee cases from Avon, Avon Lake, and Sheffield Village, meaning local matters will still be handled in that regional court structure.
