  1. The Avon Lake Fire Department is saddened to share the news of the loss of former Avon Lake Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Moore. Mayor Zilka gave this statement about Moore that was posted on the City of Avon Lake Facebook page, "Jeff Moore was a dedicated firefighter/paramedic and an outstanding employee. In my first term as mayor we had a drowning at Miller Road Park. He showed incredible compassion toward the parents as they dealt with the initial shock of losing their son. Jeff stayed with the family all night until early the next morning when the young man’s body was recovered. He cared about people and served our residents well. Avon Lake is honored to have had such a kind and caring employee serve as a firefighter/paramedic. Jeff upheld the tradition of our safety forces standing tall to serve our community." (City of Avon Lake, OH via Facebook)
