Avon Lake Symphonic Band Performs at Carnegie Hall in NYC
Avon Lake was one of eight ensembles chosen to perform on the world famous stage.
Avon Lake was just recognized (again) by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation (NAMM) for being one of the nation's Best Communities for Music Education Avon Lake's symphonic band director, David Eddleman told Cleveland.com, "This was an extraordinary opportunity and experience for the students," he said.
The students played Military Escort by Harold Russell Bennett, Prelude Siciliano and Rondo by Malcolm Arnold, O Magnum Mysterium by Morton Lauridsen and Mambo from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein. Dr. John Knight, Professor Emeritus from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, was a guest conductor for O Magnum Mysterium while Eddleman conducted the concert according to Cleveland.com.
The Avon Lake students made the most of their time in NYC by taking in a Broadway show. Not only did they get to see The Phantom of the Opera, they also got to meet the cast after the performance. The students also participated in a music clinic with nationally renown music conductors. Truly, a once-in-a-lifetime experience they'll never forget.
