Here are the top three stories in Avon-Avon Lake today:

1. A Safety Forum is being held on Monday, Aug. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Avon Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Avon High School. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend this important event. Representatives from the Avon Police Department and the Avon Fire Department will be on hand. Hope to see you there! 2. Fifty-year old Richard Stevenson is reportedly a masters-level fitness athlete. According to a Spectrum News 1 article, "he has qualified for the 2022 CrossFit Games. This is the first time that an athlete from northeast Ohio has qualified. Stevenson has trained at Black Flag Athletics in Avon for about 10 years. He started CrossFit in his late 30s to get in shape and relieve stress. Stevenson is competing against nine other men in the 50-54 age group." Good luck Richard. (Spectrum News 1)
3. According to the Morning Journal, "the city of Avon will have another day to celebrate the environment. Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen and Avon City Council officially have proclaimed that March 21 will be Save Soil Day in the city. Avon now joins Sheffield Village and its neighbor Avon Lake as the third municipality in Lorain County to have Save Soil Day." (The Morning Journal)
