🌱Baby Formula Shortage + Spring Cleaning Gets Underway

Happy Thursday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening locally today.

First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:

1. It's officially time for spring cleaning and to help out with that task the city of Avon will be putting out dumpsters on May 20-22 for Avon residents only, at several locations throughout town. Items that will be taken are bulk items, yard waste and general debris. Items that will not be accepted are tires, appliances containing freon, propane tanks, hazardous materials or toxic waste. 2. According to a press release, Avon Lake has been awarded $1,297,000 as part of Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) $51 million investment into new traffic safety improvement projects. The money will be used to improve safety along US-6 (Lake Road). (Avon Lake Press Release)
3. Not every mother can breastfeed their baby. Those that can't need baby formula. However, lately getting that needed formula has been a very difficult task for parents in Northeast Ohio. They have been traveling up to three hours at a time just to get the baby formula they need for their children. Dr. Lauren Beene from UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital told 3News the formula shortage is getting worse. (WKYC.com)
