🌱Baseball, Softball And More Baseball + Gas Prices Coming Down

Hello all! I'm back in your inbox this morning to walk you through everything you need to know about what's happening these days in Avon-Avon Lake.

First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:

1. It's already time for fall ball registration with Avon Ohio Little League. The fall baseball/softball umpire registration is also now open. Deadline to register is July 31. Visit www.avonlittleleague.com. The fall baseball and softball seasons will begin the last week of July and conclude the first week of October (subject to change). Registration is open until July 24. Visit www.avonlittleleague.com.This fall the little league program will be offering: baseball (open to Avon and Avon Lake residents) majors baseball (league age 10-12) minors baseball (league age 8-10). All league age 8 rookie players will be promoted to minors baseball. Coach pitch baseball is (league age 6-7). Please note there is no t-ball division during the fall. Softball (open to Avon residents only), minors softball (league age 8-11). Coach pitch softball (league age 6-7). Please note there is no t-ball, rookie or majors divisions during the fall." 2. Gas prices are trending down in the area. A gallon of gas now costs $4.58 on average in Cleveland, dropping 15.6 cents within the last week, according to data released Monday by GasBuddy. One month ago, gas cost 46.4 cents more. A year ago, gas was $1.63 a gallon less than it is today. Don't get too excited just yet. GasBuddy says we could see another spike in gas prices this August. 3. Register now for the 2nd annual Summer Baseball and Softball Classic, being held on Tuesday, July 19. The program is being held in partnership with Avon Lake High School! The Summer Classic is open to Avon Lake residents only. St. Joe's students are permitted to register. If you are a non-resident St. Joe's student please email alrec@avonlake.org. Whether you play in the recreation league, CVBA or weekend travel ball the coaches and players want to meet you in our weeklong event. New for this year is the addition of a k-2nd grade skills clinic. All programs will be coached or supervised by Avon Lake High School varsity coaches, their staffs, and players.
