- The Avon Branch Library expansion project is almost complete. According to cleveland.com, "the southern expansion of the Avon Branch Library is set to open to the public Sept. 6. The library is closed now through Sept. 5 as library staff begin to move books and shelves from the old building to the new. The hold lockers and return bins will not be accessible during this time. The North Ridgeville (35700 Bainbridge Road) and Domonkas (4125 Lake Road, Sheffield Lake) branches are both open for regular hours (except Sept. 5 when all branches are closed for Labor Day). The eLibrary is open 24/7 and the Books by Mail program will continue. When the new portion opens on Sept. 6, the existing library building will close for its portion of the renovation." - It's crazy to be thinking about Halloween events in August, but if you want to get tickets to the annual 'Boo by the Woods' you have to think ahead. Each year tickets for this popular event sell out. So plan ahead! Tickets go on sale for residents only at 9 a.m. September 7. According to cleveland.com, "tickets are limited to 10 tickets per household. Purchases over 10 tickets per household will be canceled and refunded. This year’s event features two nights of fun Oct. 7-8 at the Avon Lake Public Library and Lorain County Metroparks Kopf Reservation. It is presented by the City of Avon Lake, Avon Lake Recreation Department, and the Avon Lake Public Library; and sponsored by Kopf Builders, ASAP Plumbing, MJ Rogers & Co. and Friends of the Park. On Oct. 7, indoor mazes will be part of the library’s Basement of Terror. On Oct. 8, a “PG” rated Trail of Haunted Tales will take place including the option of walking the trail earlier for a non-scary experience during daylight. Other activities will include an inflatable obstacle course, pumpkin decorating, tarot card reading, face-painting, a visit with dinosaurs, and more characters. Food will be available for purchase from participating food trucks. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to avonlakerec.com (you must have an account set up in advance). Purchased tickets will be mailed approximately one week prior to the event." (cleveland.com)
