Bleser Park Play Space To Be Demolished, New Playground Incoming

Avon Lake residents can share their input on the design of the new playground at an upcoming open house.

AVON LAKE, OH — The Avon Lake Play Space at Bleser Park will be knocked down and replaced with a new playground.

Before work on that project begins, city officials want public input on how the new playground should look. On Wednesday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., an open house will be held at Avon Lake Public Library, giving families to vote on their favorite equipment.

“We want to encourage parents to bring their children, so we can build a playground they are excited about,” said Tim Pinchek, Avon Lake recreation director.

The Play Space is more than 27-years-old, city officials said. That playground will be demolished in November.

City officials said they want to order new playground equipment in December and complete the first phase of construction by Memorial Day 2022. To that end, determining which equipment should be brought in is of paramount importance to the project.

For Avon Lake residents that can't attend the upcoming open house, there will be an online and paper survey available to provide their input. The online survey can be accessed through the city's website, while the paper version can be obtained at Avon Lake Library or Avon Lake City Hall.

“We encourage Avon Lake residents to be part of the selection process. Please help us determine what equipment is most appealing to you so that you and your friends can have the best experience possible," Mayor Greg Zilka said.
