Cleveland Clinic Facility in Avon to be Named After Richard Jacobs
Facility opening in December

The Cleveland Clinic announced that the new Avon facility off Nagel Road will be named after developer and former Cleveland Indians owner Richard E. Jacobs.
It will be called the Richard E. Jacobs Health Center.
Scheduled to open on Dec. 12, the $97.9 million facility will have 190,000 square feet of space. There will be four operating rooms, four procedure rooms, and several 23-hour rooms where patients can recover from outpatient surgeries.

About 400 people will work at the facility, that will also offer primary care, about 30 specializations, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and a physical therapy center with two aquatic therapy pools.
Jacobs, who owned the Indians from 1986 to 2001, died in 2009 at age 83.Â

The Richard E. Jacobs Group is the developer of the Clinic property in Avon as well as Avon Crossing, and owns other properties in the city, including a on Chester Road just west of Jaycox Road that was cleared earlier this year. No plans for that property have been announced. The Jacobs Group also developed Key Tower and Galleria in downtown Cleveland, SouthPark Mall in Strongsville and Midway Mall in Elyria.
