  1. Save the date for the next Community Shred Day September 24 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Ellen Trivanovich Aquatic Center parking lot, 32850 Electric Boulevard, Avon Lake. Please enter the pool parking lot from Electric Boulevard and exit onto Lake Road. Please, stay in your car. Thank you! Each household may bring up to five standard-size copy paper boxes or five grocery-sized bags of personal, confidential documents. Items acceptable for shredding:
    bank information and canceled checks, outdated bills, medical information, documents containing staples and small paper clips, obsolete invoices, mortgage and loan information, letters, envelopes, ledgers, other clean paper. (Avon Lake)
  2. According to a recent press release, The Quincy Gillmore Civil War Round Table is kicking off its 12th season. "The Lorain County-based Civil War Round Table is still going strong at its original home on the campus of Lorain County Community College, with its first meeting on Monday, September 12 . Meetings take place on the first Monday of the month, September through May in Room 207 of the iLOFT Building. Members gather to hear a guest speaker present on various aspects of the American Civil War. On Monday, September 12, David Walker will be giving a presentation on the life of Jefferson Davis. The meetings start at 6:30 p.m. with the speaker presentation at 7 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend. For more information, contact the group's facilitator at 440-935-0045."
  3. Engage Virtual Range will be hosting the Annual Blue Line Competition to Benefit the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society on September 14. It runs through September 17. According to a press release about the event, "this annual event was initially designed to show appreciation for local law enforcement agencies in and around Northeast Ohio but has grown into something much bigger. The winning team will walk away with bragging rights and an impressive trophy to display in their department. In addition, all law enforcement officers will also have a chance to win one of two $250 gift cards and all participants get a free themed t-shirt. (Franchising.com)
