1. A big round of applause goes out to the Avon Lake High School Academic Challenge Team! They earned First Place at Sunday's e WEWS TV 5 show! With a final score of 570 points, the team is now in third place on the leader board and has a chance to compete in the show's finale. (Facebook)
2. There is a field of red poppies made by the students at Avon High School who have come together with members of the Avon Lake American Legion to create a very special Memorial Day display. The sea of red, ceramic poppies, each has a metal “ribbon” on it that bears the name of a veteran. This clever and unique way to honor the veterans has been very well received and the community collaboration bringing together the youth with the veterans of Avon Lake has been a great way to celebrate one another in a meaningful way.
