Here are the top three stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:

1. This is week four of the high school football preview. Fall football is in full swing and according to cleveland.com, "No. 5 Avon (2-1) at No. 9 Avon Lake (3-0) will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Avon Lake Memorial Stadium at Avon Lake High School. What to know: The Silver Rail Trophy is on the line. Avon Lake is in possession of it after last year’s 30-24 upset. The Shoremen are in better shape for this one. Their defense has allowed just seven points in the first three weeks, but Avon should be focused after last week’s 27-21 loss to Glenville. Senior quarterback Sam DeTillio threw for 209 yards and rushed for another 63 to keep the Eagles in the back-and-forth game. He will see a familiar defensive front and secondary from Avon Lake, which took advantage of five turnovers in last year’s rivalry game with Pierden Pepe and Keegan Rudduck taking advantage from their cornerback spots both on defense and in special teams. Avon could look to re-establish its run game with skillful junior Jakorion Caffey, who rushed for 34 yards against the Tarblooders. Avon Lake junior Wade Nelson rushed for 145 yards and two TDs in his team’s 38-7 win against St. John the Baptist from New York." (cleveland.com)
2. According to Crain's Cleveland Business, "the new owner of the Avon Lake power has a big vision for the city’s lakefront. Michelle Jarboe broke down the plans, which include an expansive public space along the shoreline with mid-rise residential buildings, offices and other development to the south. Take a look at the images of the reimagined site." (Crain's Cleveland Business)
3. Avon Lake Public Library is excited to again be working with the city of Avon Lake, Avon Lake Firefighters (ALFD) as they host a Heartsaver CPR/AED Certification Class. This class is free to any Avon Lake resident.
