Here are the top stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:
- Are you going to the 'play date'? According to the Cleveland.com article, "The Village Project, based in Bay Village, will be holding a fundraiser — its first Village Project Play Date — from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at PlayCle, located at Chester Road in Avon. Proceeds will benefit the Village Project, which provides free meals and care to those with cancer in Avon, Avon Lake, Bay Village, Rocky River and Westlake, according to Executive Director Meredith LaVecchia. - Though unemployment levels remain high, don't let that deter you. Many local employers throughout Avon-Avon Lake are still searching for new employees. Whether you're looking for full-time or part-time work, opportunities are still out there. Each week, Patch and ZipRecruiter compile a list of the latest local jobs available in the region. Here are some of the top jobs currently available in Avon-Avon Lake and across greater Ohio. (Avon-Avon Lake Patch)
- According to a news release, "the Avon Democratic Club will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Aug. 11, at the Avon Senior Center at 36786 Detroit Road in Avon. The club is welcoming Fifth Congressional District candidate Craig Swartz, Ohio House District 53 Rep. Joe Miller and Ninth District Court of Appeals candidate Erica Voorhees, according to a news release. These candidates will discuss their offices, campaigns and goals for Ohio."(The Morning Journal)
From my notebook:
- Avon Lake City Schools: "Enjoy the last few weeks of summer vacation! #ALsummer2022" (Avon Lake City Schools via Facebook)
- FIDO's Companion Rescue Inc.: "Looking for a foster for this 8-year-old gal named Bella. She needs a home with dogs that are not hyper. She does well with older chill dogs." (FIDO's Companion Rescue Inc. via Facebook)
- Nextdoor Neighbor, The 45s: "Time for an update post. This is Milo, he is our inherited indoor/outdoor kitty and a 45s favorite. He has a notch in his left ear and likes to make his daily rounds mostly on the south end of Lakewood Dr and Vanda. He likes some attention (but not too much), treats and will sometimes come inside if you let him. We keep him updated on shots and flea medications so no need to put a collar on him, or any flea meds. Thanks everyone!" (Nextdoor)
