Five Things: Breast Cancer Softball Game, Heat Wave, Lorain County Day

  2. Need a midweek break? Wednesday is at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Lorain County residents get half-price admission to the zoo, including the RainForest and African Elephant Crossing exhibit. Bring a valid photo ID or current utility bill with your address on it to get the discounted admission.
  3. Our finest and bravest take the field at  at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Avon police and fire departments are teaming up to take on Avon Lake's police and fire departments in a to benefit breast cancer-related organizations. Admission is $5, kids 15 and under get in free. Fireworks follow the game. Tickets are available at the Avon and departments.
  4. Have a legal question or concern? Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services and the Lorain County Bar Association are holding a from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at CRS offices, 33501 Lake Rd, Avon Lake. Only civil matters will be discussed, not criminal. Bring any pertinent paperwork.
