Five Things: Holiday Weekend, Loads of Fun

Are you ready for the Fourth of July?

  1. It looks like this will be a lovely Fourth of July Weekend. Except for the chance of storms Saturday morning, it's going to be sunny and warm, with temperatures in the 80s during the day.
  2. Fireworks in Avon will be at at dusk Monday at the end of the ' 7:05 p.m. game against the River City Rascals. Want to see the fireworks but don't want to go to the game? There will be extra parking available.
  3. Plan on making some noise at your own Fourth of July cookout? B when it comes to fireworks. Also, and don't set off fireworks around them.
  4. Get out and enjoy events in nearby towns. Avon Lake's starts at 2 p.m. Sunday at Miller Road Park on Lake Erie, with fireworks at dusk.  in Westlake will have a performance by the Cleveland Pops Orchestra at 8:30 p.m. Sunday with fireworks following.
  • Enjoy your Fourth of July parties and cookouts, but don't drink and drive. The Ohio Highway Patrol says this weekend is a dangerous one on Ohio roads. Last year, the Patrol arrested 611 people for drunk driving over the Fourth of July weekend.
