  1. Celebrate summer in Avon this Friday night at Friday Flicks, at Weiss Field, featuring "Ghostbusters: Afterlife." Food trucks 808 Shave Ice and Kountry Krunchin's will be available from 6-8 p.m. Bring your own blankets, family and friends and have a great time! (City of Avon Lake, OH via Facebook)
  2. The summer season is officially here and it's time for the Party In The Park Summer Concert Series presented by the Avon Lake Parks and Recreation Department. Concerts will rotate among three locations: Miller Road Park, 33760 Lake Road, Veterans' Memorial Park Gazebo,?32756 Lake Road and Weiss Field, 33401 Webber Road. All concerts are from 6 to 8 p.m. (Fireworks Celebration concerts 5:30 - 10 p.m.). Most concerts will also feature food trucks! This weekend kicks off the series on Sunday June 12, at Miller Road Park with the band Funkology! The food trucks will be Thyme Traveler and Hippe Sips. See you there! (Avon Lake)
  3. According to the Chronicle of Elyria, the Avon Lake City Schools district is looking to update buildings at Learwood Middle School, as well as several of the elementary schools it oversees. The district’s enrollment continues to increase, necessitating updating its various buildings. One of those upgrades is installing air conditioning units. According to the Chronicle, the district superintendent, Bob Scott, also pointed to other necessary projects including replacement of older boilers and reinforcing several roofs that have been exposed to weather. Reportedly, the Avon Lake City Schools district is looking to enter into an agreement with design firm Fanning Howey for the various upgrade projects. All plans will need to go before the local board of education. (School Constructions News)
