- Mark your calendars for the "Chili Cook-Off" taking place on Sunday, March 26 at 1 p.m. at Game On Avon Lake, 33382 Walker Road. - Now that spring has officially sprung it's time to start thinking about the health of your lawn. On Tuesday, April 11 an environmental program, "Green Lawns," will be held at 7 p.m. at the Avon Lake Public Library. Mel Hauser, of Good Nature Organic Lawn Care, will be on hand to discuss how to care for your lawn organically. This program is part of a year-long environmental series, presented in partnership with the Avon Lake Public Library and Avon Lake’s Environmental Affairs Advisory Board (EAAB), that addresses the environmental concerns of Avon Lake's residents expressed via the EAAB survey. You will learn about important points of concern for your lawn including; fertilizing, alternatives to planting grass, maintaining your yard year-round, and much more. (Avon Lake)
- Anglers take note and get your fishing rods, lures, worms and spinners ready! Rainbow trout will be stocked in Avon Lake’s Walker Road Pond on April 13, while Westlake’s Recreation Center Pond will get its supply of trout on March 29 from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. (cleveland.com)
