  1. The community is being invited to attend a meet the superintendent finalists event on Thursday, March 16, being held at Avon Lake High School. At this time, each candidate will share their background and answer pre-submitted questions. The Avon Lake City Schools Board of Education is undergoing a superintendent search to replace retiring Superintendent Robert Scott. The goal is to have a new superintendent named by the beginning of June and in place to begin the 2023-2024 school year. (Avon Lake City Schools via Facebook)

Mark your calendars now for The North Coast Rotary Club and Foundation's Sip & Support wine tasting fundraiser, which will be held on Saturday, April 29 at the Spitzer Conference Center from 4 - 7 p.m. The event will feature three hours of unlimited samplings of 35+ wines. If you like what you sample, there will be an opportunity to purchase full bottles. Live music will be performed by Doug McCutcheon, the original keyboard player with The Baskerville Hounds. There will also be many opportunities to support the North Coast Rotary Foundation, such as auction baskets, raffles and a fine art sale. Proceeds from the Sip and Support will benefit youth and community initiatives of the North Coast Rotary Foundation. Tickets are $80 each or $75 each when 2 or more tickets are purchased.   3. Think summer! Pool membership passes are now available for the Ellen Trivanovich Aquatic Center pool, for residents for purchase online or in person. If you choose to purchase online be prepared to upload a current utility at the time of purchase to verify residency. In person you can purchase passes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at city hall. Print and complete the pool pass application and bring it along with a photo ID and current utility bill to the Recreation Office. For more information and an application, go to avonlakeoh.myrec.com.
