  1. Avon Lake karate instructor Erin Stephens, 31, was reportedly charged with multiple counts of sexual battery in connection to an alleged inappropriate relationship with a minor male student. According to an article in The Mourning Journal, Stephens is accused of having “a consensual sexual relationship with the male while he was a 16- to 17-year-old student (and) worker at the karate studio,” according to a news release issued by Avon Lake police Lt. Sean Bockelman. “Although the male was of consensual age, Ohio Revised Code prohibits this conduct if the offender is a coach, instructor or person with disciplinary control over the minor,” the release stated. The male, who is now 19 years old, reported the relationship to law enforcement in March, which resulted in an investigation." (The Morning Journal)
