Kellen Kulbacki, Andrew Davis Lead Lake Erie Crushers to Win

Win is fourth in the last five games for Crushers

The used a four-run fourth inning to beat the Florence Freedom, 6-3, Wednesday night in Florence, Ky.

The Crushers scored first on solo home runs from Andrew Davis and Jason Taylor in the third, the team reported. Florence then tied the game, 2-2, in the bottom of the inning.

The Crushers' Kyle Shaffer started things out with a single in the fourth with two outs. Patrick Norris then singled and Jereme Milons walked to load the bases. Davis then drove home Shaffer and Norris with a double, and Kellen Kulbacki hit a two-run single to cap off the scoring.

Thomas Campbell (2-0, 2.21 earned run average) had a solid night pitching for the Crushers, giving up three runs on three hits while striking out four and walking two over six innings. 

Kelyn Schellenberg got his second save on the season after coming in with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, walking two batters to load the bases, then striking out the Freedom's Chris Curley on three pitches to end the game.

Davis finished with two hits, two runs scored and three RBI. He also extended his on-base streak to 38 games. Kulbacki had two hits and two RBI. 

The loss was the eighth straight for Florence (27-40).

The Crushers (32-35) wrap up their series in Florence with a 7:05 p.m. game Thursday. Josh Roberts (7-4, 3.98) will start for the Crushers.
