Here are the top three stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:
- Inspirational bananas are being given out at Troy Intermediate School by cook Tammie Johnson. She takes the time each day to write inspirational messages on the good for you fruit, spreading kindness in her own special way. Reportedly, each week, Johnson uses her own time to write brief inspiration messages on about 160 bananas. Among the bunch of beautiful reminders to smile and have a great day, there's one banana that gets top billing. "The golden ticket! See the lunch lady," said Johnson. According to the article, if a student snags that one, they get a free snack of their choice, with Johnson picking up the tab. (News 5 Cleveland)
- An African-America woman was crowned queen, for the first time in 17 years in Ohio. Miss Sir'Quora Carroll won Miss Ohio, in her first pageant ever. The runner-up is Kiyasia Hudson from Lorain County. Carroll is now off to Cancun to compete in the Miss USA Competition. Good luck! (WKYC.com)
