Nagel Interchange Builder to be Decided Thursday

City awaiting word from ODOT

The city will find out on Thursday who will be building the Nagel Road interchange, Avon Jim Piazza said at Monday's City Council meeting.

The Ohio Department of Transportation opened the bids for the project on July 25 after the city with Richard E. Jacobs Group for the project.

Because ODOT is running the project, Piazza explained, it chooses the contractor. He will be directed to a website on Thursday to find out who got the contract.

Piazza said Monday that Mosser Group, out of Fremont, was the low bidder at $16.1 million.

Avon mayor Jim Smith said that, with council's approval, the city plans to hire Don Danyanic as project manager. He would serve as the city's liason on the project. He would be paid about $80,000. Danyanic earlier served as the city's project manager for the recreation center/YMCA project.
