New Member of Avon School Board Sworn In
"As a teacher I have a different understanding as to what is going on in the classroom, realizing the day to day needs," said Zurawski

Kelly Zurawski is Avon school's newest school board member and also the first teacher on the board.
Zurawski was sworn in on May 6th after the board of education interviewed 11 candidates for the position, reports Cleveland.com.
"Kelly is an outstanding educator and she really impressed us with her knowledge of the Avon schools and her experience in education," new school board president Heather Mahoney told Cleveland.com. "She will be a great asset to our board of education and the community. She has a dynamic personality. She is also very passionate about our school system. She will be a great fit."

Zurawski is a graduate of Olmsted Falls High School and earned a biology degree from John Carroll University as a pre-med student. She got her comprehensive science license in education from Kent State University, and received a Master of Arts degree in secondary education there also.

As a resident of Avon, Zurawski has been active with the Avon schools, helping with levy campaigns and serving on committees.
She is a science teacher at Solon and lives in Avon with her husband, Bryan and their two sons.
