New Traffic Patterns at Avon Lake High School Going Into Effect

School starts Aug. 22 and Avon Lake High School will begin adopting new important temporary traffic patterns that need to be adhered to, including changes to the north and south lots.

The North lot will change to two way traffic off of SR 83. The North lot will accommodate all drop-offs and pick-ups near the Performing Arts Center BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL.

The South lot (senior parking) will be ENTRANCE ONLY in the mornings and EXIT ONLY in the afternoon (see below for details).

Avon Lake officer Brian Hurd is asking student, parents and other drivers to have patience and use caution while the new patterns are enforced.

Below is the TEMPORARY traffic pattern (unless otherwise noted) for entering/exiting the high school parking lots until the NEW entrance off of SR 83 opens in September.

 NORTH LOT ENTRANCE/EXIT: (See attached map for pattern)

• Enter off of Electric Boulevard.
• You can enter the north lot off of route 83 using the driveway next to the funeral home.  This drive is now both an ENTRANCE and an EXIT. This is PERMANENT.

• All cars must be out of the North Parking Lot no later than 3:30 pm on Thursday’s for marching band practice. If you are involved in activities after school, you will need to either park in one of the South lots or move your car after 3:15 p.m. The South Lot will be open for incoming and outgoing traffic after 3:15 p.m.

 NORTH LOT STUDENT PARKING

• The North Parking Lot will continue to be the Senior Only parking lot (shared with staff). Overflow for the Senior Lot is the South Parking Lot next to the caboose by the football field.

SOUTH LOT ENTRANCE (OFF OF SR 83): South Lot parking is for staff and underclassmen.

•  ENTRANCE ONLY in the morning from 7:00 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.
•  EXIT ONLY after the school day ends  from 2:45 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

City officials have not yet announced a date when the newly installed traffic signal in front of the South Lot will be turned on.
