Ohio PTA Presents Award & Shows School Bus Crash Tape
On April 30th in Dublin, OH at the Annual Ohio PTA Convention Achievement Award Presented for Seat Belts in School Buses Issue

On April 30th in Dublin, OH at the Annual Ohio PTA Convention with more than 100 attendees, the School Bus Safety Alliance, Founder Rudolph Breglia PhD was presented with the Ohio PTA’s gold Achievement Award. The Ohio PTA (http://www.ohiopta.org/) has existed for 125 years and has more than 50,000 members who are predominantly parents who are leaders in their communities (PTA units-Councils) and are dedicated to the education and well being of children.
During the meeting I made the Keynote Address indicating the inadequacy of current Ohio school bus safety features, the failure of the primary “Compartmentalization” theory to protect children during transport, the number of children killed and injured as passengers in buses each year, the significant number of states and cities (e.g. Beachwood, OH) already requiring seat belts in school buses, status of seat belts as a “Standard of Care” in school buses, the low cost and wide spread (e.g. National PTA) support for the effectiveness of lap-shoulder seat belts and the need for having lap-shoulder seat belts in all school buses. Before the Address, a dramatic tape of a recent ABC-Toledo, OH show was played that featured a rollover crash of a school bus without seat belts and a “drag racer” going at 100 mph in Albuquerque, NM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oytKxk7fOjU) and included a viewer survey where 71% of the audience favored having seat belts in school buses.
