The woman's injuries were non-life threatening, Sheffield Lake Fire Lt. Wes Mariner told Cleveland.com. Mariner also said it was his understanding that because of how close the snake was wrapped around her firefighters had no option but to cut its head off. Firefighters apparently used a pocket knife to cut off the snake's head.

The woman told dispatchers that she had rescued the boa, along with another, the day before the snake attached itself to her face. The woman also said she had a total of 11 snakes, all pythons, except the two boas she had just rescued.

Fire Chief Tim Ward told The Chronicle-Telegram the snake had wrapped itself around the woman's neck and was biting her nose and wouldn't let go.

"I've never heard of this before," the dispatcher was heard telling emergency responders.
