- Avon Lake High School will be the location of the inaugural Avon Lake High School Battle of the Bands, which is set to be held on April 15 from 2 to 7 p.m. and showcase between ten to 14 high school and junior high school bands. Bands will have between 15 to 20 on stage, to perform up to six songs. Musicians interested in applying to the competition can do so by clicking here. The deadline is March 16. Prizes for The top two bands will include cash and studio recording time at either Broadwaves Studio in Lorain or Spider Studios in Olmsted Falls and products from Guitar Center and Sweetwater Sound. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Avon Lake PTA Council student scholarships and programs. Hope to see you at the Battle! (Cleveland Scene)
- Now, this is getting egg-citing! A third egg has been confirmed to be in the nest of local ealge pair, Stars and Stripes. "Eagle watchers from the Avon Lake Bald Eagles Facebook page confirmed another egg was laid on Thursday night." Fingers crossed that all goes well with all three eggs! (Cleveland 19 News)
- Get ready for the annual Hooks for Hunger Chili Cook-Off, which will take place at 1 p.m. on March 26 at Game On. Start brushing up on your most famous chili recipes and enter your own chili in the contest. The cost is $40. First place wins an entry in the Hooks for Hunger Walleye Tournament (June 24). Not a cook? That's fine, just bring yourself and sample all the tasty entries. Vote for your favorite. The suggested donation for the sampling is $10. In addition to chili, there will also be a 50/50 raffle and raffle baskets. A panel of five judges will decide the final winner.
