Here are the top three stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:

1. The owners of Avon Brewing Company have officially purchased three acres on Detroit Road. They have plans to move from their current location and build a new restaurant and production facility. The hope is to open the new location in May of 2023. Reportedly, the new space will be more than 12,000 square feet and will include a restaurant, an outdoor beer garden, a separate party room, a larger production facility and more parking. 2. Whether you're actively looking for a new home or just investigating other properties nearby, you can start your search with five of the newest listings in Avon-Avon Lake. Here are the five most recent homes to go up for sale in and around the Avon-Avon Lake area including a house in the Avon area for $68,000, and another in the Avon area with 3 beds and 3.5 baths for $639,900. 3. Free ice cream for helmets! That's right, the Avon Police Department, AAA and Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream have partnered for the Helmet Smart campaign. The Avon Police posted in a Facebook post, "Parents, if your child comes home with one of these citations, please, don't be worried! It's a reminder they were doing the right thing! Also, every recipient will have a chance to win a new bicycle. Enjoy the summer weather and remember, it's cool to be safe!" (Facebook)
