Thieves Steal Car From Outside Avon Lake Home: Police
The keys to the car were inside the vehicle, according to police reports.
AVON LAKE, OH — Thieves stole a Ford Fusion from outside of a home in Avon Lake on Tuesday, according to police reports.
On Tuesday morning, a resident on Regatta Drive discovered their Fusion was missing. The car was left in their driveway overnight, with the keys inside the car, police said. Also inside the car was a Nike jacket and a set of golf clubs, the police report noted.
Police investigated a series of car thefts that took place around Avon Lake in February.

Avon Lake police recently asked residents to develop a "9 p.m. routine" that includes ensuring their vehicles are properly locked overnight. The routine should include:
- Taking valuables out of cars and into homes.
- Locking all vehicles.
- Locking the house.
- Turning on an outside light.
"These simple steps can help prevent you from becoming a victim of property crimes. Thieves like an easy target - don't be one. Start making the 9 p.m. routine a habit," police said on social media.
