Thieves Steal Credit Card From Avon Lake Car: Police

The same night that two cars were stolen from an Avon Lake neighborhood, thieves also snatched a credit card from a vehicle.

AVON LAKE, OH — A credit card was stolen from a car parked in Avon Lake, according to police. The theft happened in the same neighborhood where two cars were recently stolen.

On Aug. 23, a Waterside Drive resident discovered their credit card was missing. The card had been left in their car overnight, which was parked in their driveway.

When the resident checked their charges, they discovered someone used the card at the Speedway in Avon Lake that morning.

Investigators are looking to the theft of two cars from Waterside Drive homes. Both cars were also taken on Aug. 23, according to police reports.

A Jeep Gladiator was taken from a home on Waterside Drive on early Monday morning, police reports said. Later that morning, another Waterside Drive resident discovered their Toyota 4-Runner was also missing.

Residents can follow simple, commonsense tactics to protect themselves and their vehicles, police said:

  • Park your car in a garage, if you can
  • Lock your car overnight
  • Don't keep car keys inside your car
  • Don't keep valuables inside your car
  • Contact police if you see someone suspicious in your neighborhood, particularly if they're prowling around between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
