
Here is the text of an email sent by on Thursday evening:
"At approximately 1:15 p.m. today (Thursday, March 1, 2012) it was reported to the AMS Office by two staff members that a student made a comment in a classroom that was considered a threat to induce panic. Pursuant of Avon Board of Education Policy and the law, the student and the situation were dealt with in an appropriate manner.
"At Avon Middle School the safety and the security of students and staff are our top priority. Through practicing emergency drills and promoting a positive safe school environment, we strive to make sure that every student and staff member is safe in our facility and at school-related events. We will continue to engage in our safety protocols and appreciate your understanding in these regrettable times."Â
