2. Want to be on the police force? Now is the perfect time to apply! The city of Avon is currently accepting test results for entry level police officer through June 24. To apply online visit www.cityofavon.com/employment. All mandatory documentation must be uploaded when applying on the city’s website. A complete and thorough background investigation will be completed by members of the investigative division of the Avon Police Department. Benefits of the position include paid vacation, sick leave, personal leave, medical, dental, vision, education stipend, clothing allowance, longevity and life insurance available. The Avon Police Department has 45 sworn officers and 13 additional civilian positions. The department handles over 20,000 calls for service annually." (City of Avon)
3. Mark your calendars for "Make Music Day" on June 21 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Beach Park Shopping Center, Bleser Park and Veterans Memorial Park. Held annually "Make Music Day" is reportedly part of the international Fête de la Musique, taking place in more than 1,000 cities across 120 countries. Make Music Day is presented by the NAMM Foundation, and coordinated by the Make Music Alliance. Make Music Avon Lake gives community members of all ages, creeds, and musical persuasions the chance to experience the joy of making music together. I can make excuses to justify our society's basic lack of care for things when gas prices are soaring, food prices are soaring, etc. I have compassion for those who can’t afford things but if you are going to have a child or animal and can’t feed it, ask for help.
