Wisconsin Shooting Victims: Fly Flags at Half Staff

The president has issued a proclamation that flags should fly at half staff through sunset on Aug. 10.

President Barack Obama has issued a proclamation that United States flags should be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 to honor the victims of the Wisconsin tragedy.

 

Avon Lake’s John Shondel, the Sgt.-At-Arms for and a city councilman, issues regular alerts as to when to fly flags at half staff.

“As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless act of violence perpetuated on Aug. 5, 2012 in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, President Obama has issued a proclamation for the flag to be displayed at half-staff until Sunset, Aug. 10, 2012,” a press release issued, said.

On Aug. 10, a shooter killed six, injured three and then himself at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek. The shooter was identified today as Wade Michael Page, a 40-year-old Army veteran.

The incident is being treated as an act of domestic terrorism.

The proclamation comes less than three weeks was issued for shooting victims in Aurora, CO on July 20.
