Help Afghan Refugees During Donation Drive In Beachwood
This weekend, the Beachwood community will have an opportunity to demonstrate its immense capacity for kindness.
BEACHWOOD, OH — The Beachwood community will have an opportunity to support the Afghan community during a donation drive this weekend.
The drive will be held at Beachwood City Hall, 25325 Fairmount Boulevard, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The event is organized by Beachwood resident Ali Amini, who immigrated to the U.S. when he was 12.
Amini said he wants to pay his success in America forward.

“I arrived only with the love and support of my wonderful family,” Amini said.

Community members who want to participate should donate the following items:
- Furniture
- Clothing (anything for infants through adults)
- Children's toys
- Cookware
- Food (dry goods)
- Dishware
“Beachwood prides itself on being a welcoming city and one out of every five Beachwood
residents was born outside of the United States,” said Beachwood Mayor Martin S. Horwitz. “I hope our residents and members of neighboring communities will generously provide the items and services these new Northeast Ohioans will require."
