Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Sneiderman & Lego Mosaics

1. Beachwood High Math Teacher Arthur Gugick has been featured in The Washington Post, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Cleveland Magazine and more for his mosaics and landmark sculptures made entirely of Lego.

While some call his work art, Gugick says that he thinks of his Lego projects as big math puzzles.

2. Curious as to how the sequestration could affect Beachwood Schools?

Beachwood City Schools has $466,000 in federal funding that could see cuts this year after the U.S. Senate did not agree on legislation that would stop $85 billion in budget cuts before it adjourned for the weekend Thursday night.

The biggest chunk of federal funding in the school district is used for children with disabilities — under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act — at nearly $360,000.

3. The woman accused of conspiring to kill her husband, Beachwood native Russell Sneiderman, is now allowed to contact a male friend who prosecutors have suggested could be a witness in her trial.

A judge ruled yesterday that Andrea Sneiderman could again have contact with Joseph Dell.

Sneiderman was charged with being involved in her husband's November 2010 shooting and is currently out of jail on a $500,000 bond.

Andrea Sneiderman's former boss Hemy Neuman is serving a life sentence for the shooting after a trial which painted Andrea Sneiderman as a manipulator in a murder plot to get her late husband's $2 million life insurance payout.

Late last year, prosecutors suggested that Joseph Dell was involved in Andrea Sneiderman's life, complicating the already convoluted case against her.

4. Beachwood Place Mall will have one of the first Microsoft Stores in the country.

Kelly Clarkson will headline the event, which is April 13 at 10:30 a.m.

The full-service store — as opposed to the kiosk that opened before the holiday shopping season in 2012 — will have Microsoft's full line of tablets, PCs, phones and more, as well as tech trainings.

Patrons can get in line for the opening at 10 p.m. Friday, April 12. The first 100 people in line at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13 will get tickets to meet Kelly Clarkson and to her show at 6 p.m. Saturday. The next 1,000 people will get tickets to see her concert.

5. Beachwood High School had a big week in basketball: the girls ended their season - the best in school history - and the boys won the district title with a win over Gilmour.
