UH Ahuja Medical Center Among Ohio's Best Hospitals: U.S. News

BEACHWOOD, OH — University Hospitals Ahuja Medical is among the 20 best hospitals in Ohio, according to new rankings from U.S. News.

The rankings examined both the best hospitals in the nation and the best hospitals by region. Ahuja Medical Center ranked as the No. 14 best hospital in the Buckeye State.

The hospital recently broke ground on a sweeping $236.1 million expansion project.

“As an anchor healthcare institution on Cleveland’s east side, we look forward to evolving UH Ahuja to fit the needs of our patients by offering new and expanded services to the community,” said Alan Papa, COO, UH East Market. “We are not only expanding services that are outgrowing our original configuration, we are designing new buildings from the ground up to allow our caregivers to efficiently provide quality health care and enhance patient experience.”

The 2021-22 Best Hospitals rankings, released Tuesday by U.S. News and World Report, rates the best overall hospitals as well as others that consistently deliver the best care.

To compile the rankings, U.S. News compared more than 4,750 medical centers nationwide in 15 specialties and 17 procedures and conditions including cardiology, neurology, geriatrics, orthopedics and more.

U.S. News also added seven new procedures or conditions to the rankings this year, including heart attack, stroke, pneumonia, diabetes, kidney failure, hip fracture and back surgery.
The goal of the rankings is to help patients choose a hospital based on the specific type of care they need.

The methodology for the rankings is based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
