3 Local Students Win National Merit Scholarship

Three area students, two from Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School, have been announced as National Merit Scholarship winners.

Matthew A. Adrianowycz and Cindy S. Zhao attend school in Brecksville while Isabelle M. Hanna goes to Padua Franciscan.

All three won $2,500 each and were part of 2,500 winners chosen from a pool of 15,000 across the nation.

Adrianowycz plans to study pharmeceutical science, Hanna plans to study molecular biology and Zhao is undecided.

National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners are the finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the nation’s graduating high school seniors
